It was announced a little while ago that veteran rapper and Hip-Hop great Aesop Rock would be promoting his new album The Impossible Kid with the help of Funny Or Die. And now we get the first taste of The Impossible Kid with the first episode released by the website today entitled “Sorry I’m Late.” In the video we see Aesop make his way through the wilderness with coffee in hand to meet his cartoon bear therapist about his move from New York City to Oregon. Check out the video below:
The Impossible Kid will be Aesop Rock’s first solo release since his 2012 LP Skelethon. The new album is set to drop on April 29th, and will feature 15 tracks with production from Aesop himself accompanied by Philadelphia musician Grimace Federation. From the looks of his most recent videos, it seems as if Yung Lean has been watching a lot more David Lynch films… Like most the songs on his newest album Warlord, Yung Lean obviously yearns to evolve musically, and now obviously visually as well. His newest video for “Miami Ultras” is a prime example of this, displaying some surreal visuals and dark undertones to accompany the track. You can check out the new video below, which features some bold imagery like Lean digging his own grave in a floral dress.
It’s been 3 years since Animal Collective released their last studio album Centipede HZ, now their finally back officially announcing their newest upcoming album Painting With after first premiering it in the Baltimore airport. Painting With will be the 11th studio album from the experimental innovators and will be released February 19th via Domino. The band also released a new track from the album to accompany their announcement, entitled “FloriDada.” Animal Collective was formerly a four-piece band comprised of Panda Bear, Avery Tare, Geologist, and Deakin; but for this album they are performing as a trio minus Deakin. After releasing the incredibly impressive video for “Hoover” last week, obscurely talented Swedish rapper Yung Lean is back with another video this time for his track “Ghostrider.” While we saw a new level of cinematography and professionalism on the “Hoover” video, the visuals for “Ghostrider” are more like a throwback to the earlier Sad Boys days filled with distorted filters, extreme slo-mo, and ridiculous antics. You can check out the new video below:
Atlanta hip-hop star ILoveMakonnen is readying the world for his upcoming album release ILoveMakonnen2, set to hit stores later this week, by releasing a brand new track entitled “Second Chance.” The new song is produced by the legendary DJ Mustard and is definitely a throw-back ballad featuring the weirdo rapper singing over some sweet synth and piano Mustard riffs. Following the tragic events of the attacks on Paris on Friday, Thundercat & Mono/Poly have collaborated on a beautifully composed instrumental piece honoring the historic city and those who unfortunately lost their lives. You can listen to the new minute and a half track below via BrainFeeder:
With it’s expected December 4th release date fast approaching, the world is more anxious than ever for Kid Cudi’s newest album Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven. A fact that Cudder is completely aware of, as he took to twitter last night to reveal the tracklist for the new upcoming album and hopefully hold off all the fans fiending for that sweet sweet Cud. You can view the handwritten list of tracks below which features the 18 tracks of “side-A” of the album. Cudi previously stated that the side-B of the project will feature demos, unreleased material, outtakes, and more. The list doesn’t show any guest features on the album, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any. This list could just be for the names of the tracks, Cudi could still be holding more surprises for us yet.
